We could not claim the title of the Australian International Animation Festival without the full endorsement from the City of Wagga Wagga. Thank you!
Wagga Wagga is the ideal location for the Australian International Animation Festival as we are located half way between Sydney and Melbourne, accessible by a five-hour drive or a one-hour flight. Recent years has seen an increase in festival patrons travelling from afar to attend the Festival. Each year there has seen an increase in Alumni from the Wagga Wagga campus of Charles Sturt University’s Animation and Visual Effects course return to Wagga Wagga to re-establish networks as well as forge new partnerships. AIAF is growing as a significant opportunity for emerging animators to meet with those already established in the industry and grown as a destination for regionally based animators and audiences.
AIAF meets many objectives within Council's Community Strategic Plan, Wagga View. In particular, AIAF shares our Community Vision:
- We are a thriving, innovative connected and inclusive community on the Murrumbidgee.
- Rich in opportunity, choice, learning and environment, Wagga is a place where paths cross and people meet.
AIAF supports high-quality activity, engagement and participation by:
- Securing Wagga Wagga as the host City for the Australian International Animation Festival which increases tourism and the total value added to the local economy
- Gaining positive national/international media coverage for the City which increases investment from State/Federal Government
- Attracts more participants/visitors every year with overnight stays with increased community satisfaction with the ability to participate in arts and cultural related activities, increased entertainment options, with safety in public places
- Showcases regional talent and fosters high-profile connections with external stakeholders which increases new business opportunities and percentage of young people (15-24) in employment or learning.
Consider applying for funding from the Council’s Annual Grants program to support other events like AIAF.
